How to summarize 6 years? We became foster parents and had cute 20 month old placed with us. Went through 4 years of "the system" always thinking that our TLC and eventual permanency would settle this child. Had evaluations done as part of court proceedings to have them report that this child was attached to us, but no one spent time in our home, and we still thought permanency was the answer. Rigths were terminated and we called for evaluations again as we were concerned about finalizing adoption. She didn't register on their scales. We now know that that was all traditional counceling, and we finalized adoption on a RAD child that became more pronounced as a result of permanency. In the meantime our family added two younger siblings. Just this Jan 04, we were finally able to confirm our suspicions and identify the issue as RAD and get support/therapy, but are looking at more creative long term healing solutions. We have had decent relationship with bm over the years. We will be working on reuniting them now that bm has things together. In the meantime, we continue with cranio sacral therapy to heal this child. We are on this site for info that can help keep our family sane, and the little ones (3 yrs old and 1yr old) safe from the affects of RAD child, age 7.
