We adopted our son when he was 26 months. He had been in the DHS system since birth and I was the 4th mommy. He was diagnosed at 3 1/2 with severe ADHD and was developementally delayed. We were told at that time he was attached. In May of this year he became aggressive. He now is 11. He was admitted to an RTC unit for medication work up and anger management. In August he was re admitted for aggression and physical violence. He was then diagnosed as RAD. The symptoms of this disorder were classic of his behavior. He was in RTC for 3 months before he was ready to come home. We are new at this and am learning Nancy Thomas techniques and Love and Logic. He starts with an attachment therapist next week. We are very hopeful that we can help him learn to trust and love.
